“Selfie Mural"

MILKCRATE was awarded the proposal for the City of North Adams' "selfie mural" project in 2021. The endeavor involved a meticulous process, commencing with the careful selection of images capturing the essence of the city. Employing digital illustration techniques, we transformed these images into a modern interpretation inspired by vintage postcards, seamlessly blending nostalgia with the contemporary art scene of North Adams. The digital mockup phase allowed for a precise visualization of the mural's impact, ensuring alignment with the city's aesthetic vision. The final design, with its vibrant but cohesive look, drew inspiration from the palette used in the city's wayfinding signage and adjacent murals. The fabrication process brought the digital vision to life, resulting in a selfie mural that not only serves as a visual spectacle but also celebrates North Adams' rich artistic heritage in a modern and engaging manner.
